Mr Maurice Watkins (Chairman Charitable Fundraising Board)
Mr Watkins is Joint Senior Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street and specialises in sports law. His most high profile work locally is with Manchester United, of which he is a director. He is Regional Chairman of Coutts Bank. Nationally he is Chairman of The Greyhound Board of Great Britain and a non-executive director of the Rugby Football League.

Maurice’s personal involvement with charitable causes has been extremely hands on, as evidenced by his work with national charities such as the NSPCC, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and as chair of regional campaigns such as the Manchester Grammar School Bursary Appeal (he is an MGS Old Boy and the Chairman of Governors), Tommy’s Campaign The Birth of Hope Appeal and as a member of the former University of Manchester Foundation. He is a Patron of Withington Girls School Bursary Scheme, Manchester and a Supporter of St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London Charities Trust, Save the Baby and of Contact a Family, helping families with disabled children. He is also a Member of the University College London Campaign Executive Committee.

As Chairman of the Charity, Mr Watkins comes to the group with an outstanding media profile, in addition to well documented mediation and negotiating skills.
