legacy fundraising

Legacy gifts are a vital source of income for our Charity. The generous donations received from our supporters enable us to plan for the future and ensure we are around in the future to continue to help our patients.

Making your will

Making a will helps you plan your finances and ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes.

Leaving us a gift in your will is very straightforward. One of your first steps will be to decide the type of gift you’d like to leave – residuary or pecuniary. A residuary legacy is when you ensure your loved ones are catered for first and then whatever is left (the residue) goes to charity.

A pecuniary legacy is a fixed amount of money, for example £5,000.

Updating your will

If you have already made your will and are happy with it, adding your favourite charity couldn’t be easier – this can be done via a codicil. A codicil is a supplement to the will that can make changes or amends and allow additions to that will.

To help you make or update your will we have produced a useful guide which is available to you free of charge. Please note that this is not a comprehensive guide and we would recommend that you seek the advice of your solicitor, who can ensure that your will is legally valid and that your wishes are carried out.
