our heritage

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital opened in June 2009 and builds on a long heritage of outstanding children’s healthcare in Greater Manchester.

The new building replaces the much-loved facilities at Pendlebury and Booth Hall, which served the region’s children for over 100 years and had a long tradition of charitable support.

The specialist services for which Pendlebury and Booth Hall were well-known can now be found at the new site in central Manchester.

These include:

  • Paedicatric oncology
  • Research and treatment into metabolic diseases
  • Paediatric burns

The new hospital was designed following extensive consultation with staff and patients, and takes full advantage of having a comprehensive range of children’s healthcare services under one roof.
