Be Seen in Green 2017

Friday, July 7, 2017

Be Seen In Green is back and bigger than ever before! On Friday 7 July we are asking people to show their support by wearing green and making a suggested donation of £2 to take part.

Be Seen In Green Day is open to schools, organisations, nurseries, social groups or even just groups of friends and it is really easy to take part!

All we ask is that on Friday 7th July participants wear something green to work for the day and pay a donation of just £2 to take part.  Not only will you directly support the lives of our patients through the funds raised, you will also be showing your support by donning the colours of our charity for the day. Sign up today to get your green on for patients in hospital

This year, Be Seen in Green Day is raising funds to support children and young people diagnosed with brain tumours, right here in Manchester and the North West.  Sadly, brain tumours are the most common solid tumours of childhood and are responsible for more deaths than any other childhood cancer. We want to provide our clinicians with DNA methylation profiling technology, right here in Manchester.  This state of the art, cutting edge technology will help accurately diagnose the different types of brain tumour quickly so that we can provide the best and most appropriate treatment quickly for our young patients.

New classifications by the World Health Organisation in 2016 mean that there are now more than 100 types of paediatric brain tumour, many of which can look the same under a microscope.  For this reason, analysis of the genetic make-up of brain tumours, known as DNA methylation profiling, is becoming increasingly critical in ensuring the correct diagnosis and therefore the best treatment and future for our young patients.   With only a few centres globally able to offer this service. we want to provide our clinicians with DNA methylation profiling technology, right here in Manchester.  This state of the art, cutting edge technology will help accurately diagnose the different types of brain tumour quickly so that we can provide the best and most appropriate treatment quickly for our young patients.

You can help spread the word on 7 July on social media with a #BeSeenInGreen selfie – don’t forget to tag us on Facebook or Twitter!
